Guys we will be having a seminar on August 8th at the Blalack place north of Carrollton (site of past hunt tests).
Key-note speaker will be Larry McMurry - will discuss bird placement and
show where and why at several different set-ups.
If you don't know : Larry is very knowledgeable about dogs, dog training, judging and testing. He is an HRC judge and field-rep, and has run/judged
SRS events, and probably some more stuff that doesn't come to mind right now!
We will have lunch on site, and dinner at Glenn and Marinda Dye's that evening.
There will be skeet shooting after the seminar, but no alcohol comsumption if you are planning to shoot!

The fee will be $25 for single and $30 for family.

Please RSVP by Sunday August 2nd...so we can have enough food.
You can RSVP here and send entry money to:
Mike Blalack
P O Box 2454
Grenada, MS 38902
Please make checks payable to SFHRC

It'll probably be hot...so bring refreshments!

Mike

by chance
I have had the priviledge to run under and judge with Larry. IMHO, he is the best in the business with bird placement. He is very careful in his setups to insure that the bird hits exactly where he wants it. His marking scenarios are always going to be challenging. The opportunity to learn from someone of his caliber doesn't come around often. I strongly urge everyone to attend this event.

Larry won a silver medal in the gog first event (before it was srs). I know because he gave me a Pepper autographed dokken from that event the night he gave me the ribbon for my first hrch. He also owned, handled, and trained without a collar Pepper to 10 grand passes, the most of any female. He was hrc vice president for 2 terms. He's the one that laid the ground work for Pin Oak to build that pond in little rock pin oak has there tests on, and the srs has had gigs on, and in the backjground whenever tackett is acting like a trainer on tv... peppers pond. To say the least, he's a helluva dog man and a great guy. He's one of the 3 people that influenced me the most to become a judge, and teach me how to judge. Not to mention he reminds me of billy bob throtan in bad santa... but i digress.

me and tj for sure. ty may come if hes off work. travis

I'm starting to sound like gator (i.e. work, not gay remarks about skippyj) .... but I'll be in Philadelphia, PA on the 8th.

I hate I'll miss this event. Larry is something else when it comes to laying out a test. I've judged with him a few times myself, and learned something new each time.
