BF Goodrich A/T are probably the best tires out there in my opinion. I put 50,000 miles on a set when I sold my Toyota (over 6 months ago) and they are still on the truck. I ran a set on a GMC 4x4 for 12,000 miles and turned around and sold them for $300. In those 52,000 miles I ran them I never even had a flat (not even a nail). They are a bit pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

any thing that holds air is my preference for the 85 SUV....
lots of all-terrain tires out there that will do the job... i have to keep price and performance in moderation.... if you can afford the Michelin, good, or if the less popular are affordable, get em...

Mud Kings come off the same line that makes the bfg's....A lot rounder than a buckshot, and pull just as good, and wear (& sound) better. travis

I've got BFG All-Terrains on my truck and hate them because they don't have the grip I need in gumbo mud. I am saving my money now for a set of Wild Country Mud Grips.

They do very well in the wet loose sand and clay we have so much of down here.

There may be several variations of the BFG's All Terrain tires, but the ones I have are a mud grip/street grip type.

My tires say BFG All-Terrains, but they are more of a street tire to me. You can't go wrong with Wild Country tires.

Cooper Tires makes a good tire too and they have a plant smack dab in the middle of the delta (clarksdale) so you feel like you are supporting the locals. TRy the Discovery.

Bridgestone also makes a good mud tire.

Recently put a set of Hercules, Terra-Trac on the Cherokee 4X4..it's 500 miles short of 100K..had Toyo, Wild Country AT's on it..were good to 40K but during last 5-7K miles the rubber compound seemd to harden and traction went out the window..the B.F. Goodrich AT's which came on it started cupping out @35K and were intolerable @50K..yep, I kept them up to PSI and rotated @5K.

A buddy ran these Hercules tires to 80K on his Toyota 4X4..they were almost 1/2 cost of Michelins..didn't price the BFG's for the aforementioned reason even though they're made here in Okieland.

Don't know what kind of terrain you are driving in, but in Alberta on an SUV the best tire you can use is the Goodyear Wrangler.

Next to that is the Michelen, but they Michelin won't clear the mud out as good as the Wrangler.
