Sit com question
Sit com question
In your opinion what is the best sit com ever made. Choose your favorite and then a runner up! This topic cam e up in a conversation with an old high school buddy , turns out we still l ike the same stuff. We both said our all time favorite was King of Queens. My runner up would have to be Cheers.
So....1. King of Queens 2. Cheers all time. How bout yall?

Re: Sit com question
#1 has got to be Friends
#2 would probably be The Cosby Show
#2 would probably be The Cosby Show
Re: Sit com question
I don't guess Andy Griffith would qualify as a sit com, but that would have been it up until the fact he campaigned for Obama and now I will not watch it.

+1 my wife calls me papaw when i watch mash and she hates it when a marathon comes on - she's about 3or4 years too young to appreciate/remember it when it was on originally
another favorite is hogan's heros from that era

I remember when the last episode of MASH came on prime time tv. Mom and dad were pretty torn up. Powerful program.

Re: Sit com question
M.A.S.H. was beyond a "sit com" to me...one of the greatest shows of all time.....
for a light "sit com" no longer on....
Number 1 Cheers
Number 2 Newhart
for the stuff currently on....
Number 1 My Name Is Earl
Number 2 The Office (although this season is letting me down)
I don't think you can truly judge a sit com until years after it is over, if the show holds up (Cheers, Newhart, Andy Griffith, M.A.S.H.) then you can put them on even footing....kind of like judging music in the first 6 months to a year of release....call me in 10 years and let me know if you think it holds up as well as Let it bleed or Led Zepplin

Re: Sit com question
1) Buffalo Bill - Bet nobody on here remembers this one. Lasted maybe a year and a half but it was hilarious - dripping with sarcasm. Had Dabney Coleman and Geena Davis.
2) Beverly Hillbillies - If you hadn't seen every one of them 50 times, they'd be funny today.
Alternatives
Burns and Allen - those shows were old when I first saw them, but without a bunch of gratuitous sex references and pushing "social issues", it was pretty funny.
Green Acres - hit and miss. Some were insane funny. Others just corny. Around the end, just bad.
