Riflescopes . . . that is

Wasn't there to be a shootout at the cookout this weekend to determine which was the best scope?

Sorry I couldn't make it. Little things like writting a dissertation are getting in the way of important events!

Don't know if it's the best (I know it's not), but I bought a Leupold Vari-X II, 3-9 w/ 40mm objective today. I finally replaced my tried and true Weaver that weighed close to 5 lbs.

I really like the Leupold. It's much brighter than I am used to and it's a lot lighter on top of my .308. I'll be at the shooting range this weekend getting it ready for deer season.

Out of all that scope talk only heard the Nikkon mentioned once.... I got one of the Nikkon BuckMaster's last year I held it up to the Leupold the Nikkon looked brighter to me I think it was like 245-269 can't remember. I got rid of the Varix III 4x12 I honestly liked the nikkon better for low light dunno

I haven't seen any follow up to that either. How did GH22's Aetec hold up ?????

Stano, I got a 3x9x50 Nikon Buckmaster and love it. I don't believe you can beat one for the money.

As for brightness, the Aetec held up to the Zeiss, but the Zeiss was clearer as it got darker. Plus my gun shooting 12" high @ 100yds didn't help any either.
