I am now officially a "Dirty, Old Man"

Postby jacksbuddy » Mon Mar 23, 2009 9:56 am

I just got my first pair of bifocals over the weekend. Now, I'm at work and trying to use these @$&% things, and can't see $%&@. Oh, and stairs? That's a WHOLE NOTHER bunch of @$&?%.

So, instead of me just cussing so much about wondering just where in the infernal nether regions my vision went, I'd like to know how to quickly get used to these things so that I can get on with being a productive member of society. And since I am sure that there are at least of few others on this board who use these evil contraptions, I figured I'd ask a couple of questions. First, how many of us on here have been the victim of this evil plot? and second, Y'all got any ideas? Any helpful advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

When I first got them I hated them... took about 3-4 weeks to really get comfortable with them. What did help me was I took a 4 day trip and kept them on constantly walking around and not just sitting at a desk looking at a computer screen...

Get up and go and dont sweat it.... you might not even trip over your own feet more than 8 or 7 times!

Give it a few weeks, it will get better. I don't wear them, but they help pay for my fishing and hunting forays, so thanks!

Have been wearing them for a few years. They just take a few weeks for you to adjust to them. After a while you will tilt your head back to read something and not even think about it. The first couple days are the worst.

I too had to face the aging process and got bifocals last summer. It took me about a week to get used to them for general purposes. Shooting was a whole new deal - my friend Wildfowler had lots of laughs at my expense on the sporting clays range when I couldn't pick up crossing birds.

I started wearing bi focals a year or two ago about the time I turned 40. I got the no line bi focals in the prescription glasses and it was pretty easy to get used to them. I have reading glasses for when I have my contacts in and can't weven read my watch if I don't have them with me.
