HAve a soil test done, its free from your local ext. service and it will tell you exactly what you need. Reason I say this is b/c most often people chose a fertilizer and its not what they need and dont get the results they want. The soil test will tell allot of info and will give you the recemendations of N/P/K and you can use that to have a custom blend mixed from your co-op

+1 Its is falling everyday. Shop it out. Places that bought early are going to be selling higher.

soil samples are cheap, only about $6. I saw 13-0-13 in 33# bags the other day. That is what I call getting less bang for your buck.

A soil sample is the only way to go. Stop by your local Extension office and they have the form you will need to fill out along with the box to put your soil in. It isn't free as previously stated, its $6 per test. Assuming you will be doing your yard it will only cost you $6. A test will tell you many different things but one of the most important things you will get out of it is the ph of your soil.
Many people dont realize that if your soil ph is incorrect then you are wasting money throwing fertilizer out. You may only need to add lime. If the ph is not right for the grass you are trying to grow then it will lock the nutrients in the soil where your grass cant get it. I live in Grenada where we just bought a new house. I pulled a sample and mailed it in and it said i needed to add 175lbs of lime per 1000 sq ft.
Now pulling a soil sample. Please understand I dont mean to sound like im talking down to you, just wanted to explain in case you have never pulled a sample. Dont go to one place in your yard and take the dirt from it. Take you a little bucket and go all over your yard pulling small samples, with a soil probe if you have one or can get one, and mix it in the bucket and then add that dirt to your box and send that in. This allows you to get a good representation of your yard.
If you have any questions please feel free to pm me.

We have been putting chicken fert on our plots and they have been better than ever. It's unreal the difference over commercial fertlizers.
