unclaimed funds

I used to live in Jackson about 10 years ago and when I sold my house, apparently there are some unclaimed funds out there that are mine. Over the past 5 years I have received numerous letters from "small business" that say they will get that money for me for a small fee. I have gone on-line and seen the unclaimed funds and inquired about getting them myself but it takes an act of congress if you have never done it before. I talked to one fo these companies today who said they do these for a flat fee of $75.
Question is has anyone used a company like this and what was your experience?

I got a letter similar to this. Apparently I had a cousin in Zimbabwe who passed away and left me 30 million dollars. I am gonna send his lawyer 10,000 tomorrow to start processing the estate so I can get the money. I never expected anything like this would ever happen to me!!!!

It really ain't that hard.
All you need to do is go to the Mississippi Treasurer's website. They have a simple form that you need to fill out and send in. (If you have any questions, they even have a real live person that you can talk to, to walk you through the process.) Then you might have to provide some documentation later, and collect your money. My dad collected over $4,000 from my grandfather's late wife's estate, and I got over $100 from a 'retirement fund' through a defunct former employer.

I found $400 in Nevada a few years back from an old payroll check. Seems that a website had each state listed and I searched each state I ever lived in...Ill dig around for a link...it was a free service

You don't need a company to do this. Contact the State Treasure and follow the forms.

I found what I was looking for before on the internet but it wasn't the state treasury's website. I can't for the life of me remember what it was..
