Free Male Rhodesian Ridgeback to a good home. His name is Ruger
A couple months ago a dog wandered up to my door. After a week of searching for the owner, I decided that I would serve as its foster parent until I could find it a good home. I took him to the vet to get shots and get him checked out, and asked what kind he was. The vet told me that he couldn't be sure since it had no papers, but he said that it looked like and had the personality of a Rhodesian Ridgeback. He is about a year old and is a great dog. He loves other dogs (we have a 3.5 pound mini pup and they play) and absolutely loves people. He is a pretty big dog. I would guess around 60 pounds. The perfect situation would be someone with another dog that has a lot of room for them to run. I live in the jackson area and can take him to you or meet you half way. I've got pictures somewhere, but if you want to know what he looks like, follow this link. It is pretty spot on what he looks like. I refuse to take him to the pound, so I hope that someone on here would love to take him.

He would make an incredible blood dog. He has a nose like nothing I have ever seen before.
If you have any questions, or want pics of him, I can find the ones I have or take more.
He is a great pet; I just don't have the room that he needs to be exercised.

Those are impressive dogs. I can't believe someone isn't crying because they lost their Ridgeback. They can cost several thousand dollars. They are a member of the hound family and were used SAfrica and Rodesia to hunt lions.
No, i don't want to know you ---- teul

mine very well could be. the one in the link, i can guarentee you, is not. The problem my vet had with labeling him a mutt is that he is upwards of 70 pounds and looks an awful lot like the one in the pic. maybe I have been around midget mutts my whole life, but I have never seen a mutt over more than 40-50 pounds (unless they were obese).

Re: Free Male Rhodesian Ridgeback to a good home
does he have the ridge back (the hair on those dogs spines look like it is growing aginst the grain than the other hair)
Life's too damned complicated to make it too damned complicated
Re: Free Male Rhodesian Ridgeback to a good home
you know, Johnny, I never thought about that.....
Per the vet, there are two types of ridgebacks. ones with hair growing backwards that are almost always solid dark brown, and a breed called a ridgeless ridgeback that are brown and white that don't have hair growing backwards, but have a mohawk when they get excited. this dog has a for sure mohawk.
