How Is The Season Going?

I have not kept up with all of the post this season. Over all, how has the season gone thus far? It has been real bad down here in southeast La. Maybe things will pick up the next few weeks. I sure hope that it will. However, I don't think that there is much chance here. There is very little food for the birds in this marsh. :( :( :( :(

Jack call me/pm me if you want to go kill some ducks. Been one of my better seasons so far, but things are slowing a little here as of late.

From what I understand, most in the MS Delta have struggled this year. I would be curious to know how the season has rated as a whole for all states north of us in the Mississippi Flyway - starting with MN, SD, ND, WI, IL, MO, TN etc. Most of those states' seasons ended some time ago - just have not heard how they rated compared to prior years.

Where are the ducks???

I've hunted in the basin and seen a number of birds, but haven't killed anything in the basin yet. I've heard of a number of reports from the basin that alot of birds have been knocked down.

I've hunted south of Henry off the Boston Canal twice this year and have killed a quality amount of birds there. With reports from the property owner that they have been killing birds throughout the season.

I spoke with a guy in the shop this morning, him and his son went to Grand Cheniere on a guided hunt and came home with 36 birds for him and his son for two days. He said teal would fly in like a cloud of black birds and the greenheads were unreal. He said limits were reached in minutes upon shooting hours. He said they also got check by Mr. Green Jeans for possession limits, etc. while they were at the place.

Overall I'd say that central and southwest LA has had a very decent season so far. I wanted to scout a place in the basin during my vacation the week of Christmas that I have heard about the greenheads, but with the warm temps, I wasn't about to fight the fog and I end up building my driveway at my house during this time. I might make another trip in Boston if I get an invitation, but my season has about ended with these crazy temps. continue. Ive fought the fog for 8 years hunting Wax Lake Delta and not wanting to fight it again. I got ducks in the freezer I haven't cooked yet so I don't have to go out and kill more.
