Layout Blind Preference

The season started this weekend the same way that it concluded last year: our ducks were bunched up in the middle of the rice fields a LONG way from our pits.

Any suggestions on a waterproof layout blind that will work in 3" to 18" of water?

Cabellas Ultimate is what I think it is called. It won't handle 18 inches of water but it will handle about 6 -10. Roomy and comfortable. Once mudded and brushed it is nearly invisible.

I think Otter makes one that is really a boat/blind. Can't remember what its called; maybe "final approach"(?). The Otter Predator won't keep you dry in 18" of water. Get ready to cough up some change.

never ever seen one of Averys handle 18inches, 12 is more like it. I like Averys Finisher but the Cabelas Ultimate gets my vote hands down

"Final Attack" is the name of the thing. I think Lipsplitter is an Otter dealer. He might could get you a deal on it.

I have had the same problem for years- pit in wrong place,skid sticks out like a sore thumb, don't want to teter totter a layout of a rice levee. I had something built that I have yet to try but I think it is going to work. I built a sled with a 4'wide x 7' long plywood top that I will put my layout blind on. My eliminator is about 36" wide so I went with the 4' width so that I can step out of the blind and have a place to stand before I jump off. The sled will adjust from 6" to 24" tall. It has a short length of chain on front to pull with a 4 wheeler from truck/trailer to field. Like I said, it's still under construction(will finish this weekend and put it to test next week). If it works I am going to build 2 more for my young-uns and we call haul them in tandem to the field. I will post a picture of the frame.

Imagine the sled with a 4'x7' plywood setting on the frame.The 4 vertical square tubing risers wil be drilled at 6",12,18,& 22". Pins will be used to set the height depending on depth of water hunted.Layout blind with or without tub will set on top.I use killerweed on my layout and will also brush with other native material at the site.I call it my "Rice Field Assassin Platform".
