Byron Barrett has just ripped me off on several pieces of property in the Delta. I have a limited amount of info on him, but would appreciate any new facts about him that anyone could offer. I would appreciate any info or stories that anyone has about him. If he still owes anyone money let me know because we are going to sue the crap out of him.

It amazes me that he rips so many people off and there is so much $#!+ about him ripping people off on this board. You think it would stop and people would stay away from him like the AIDS virus, but people continue to fuel his fire and he lives on as the con-man that he is. Leave this guy alone and he will wither away.

Well, I would not rely on any facts coming from too many folks around here. I would suggest that you start with the Warren Cty sheffifs office. They can probably point you in the right direction.
Good luck

Okay, first off I'm not an attorney and ask that any of the attorneys on this site weigh in on this. It seems to me that if the local authorities, ie sheriff and district attorney, or either unable or unwilling to take care of this problem, then take it to the Feds. I think I read in an earlier post that he either lives or has lived in Louisianna. I think this would make it a violation of the Interstate Commerce Act and the FBI or US Attorney could get involved. Like I say, I'm not an attorney and would like to know what any of the attorneys out there think.

Let's look at the whole picture. Not every hunter in Mississippi visits this site so alot of people out there do not know who Byron Barrett is. And if he is using an assumed or false name at the time of the offense then they may never know who he is. Also alot of times the jurisdiction that the offense was committed in will look at the circumstances like they are a civil matter (one that must be handled in Justice Court or Chancery Court, depending on the amount) due to the/a contract between two individuals. What alot of people don't know is that you can file False Pretenses charges on an individual.
False Pretenses 97-19-39
"Did willfully, unlawfully and feloniously with intent to cheat and defraud (victim) designedly and falsely with knowledge of such falseness (described act of false pretense) obtain from said (victim) the sum of (amount)(or personal property or other valuable thing - describe such person or valuable thing)"
This is straight out of the affidavit handbook for the State of Mississippi. The maximum fine is 3 times the value of the money, property or thing obtained and 1 year in the County Jail or 3 years and $10,000.00.
If a person has been frauded by this man then they need to go to the jurisdiction and file the appropiate charges and not let themselves be told that it is a civil matter and that they would have to file it in Small Claims Court. Some people may drop the pursuit of getting their money back if they have to go through alot trouble at small claims court or especially if they can't identify the suspect.
This is just a little need to know info for the victims.

So true, I have many friends right here in Warren County that never heard of him until I told them. There is a whole lot of duckhunters out there that dont use a computer.

very true, but of course one could also recover restitution.
But as a practical matter, most folks need law enforcement support or support from the DA to get the case worked up and presented to the Grand Jury. Try calling the DA in whatever jurisdiction the offense occured, whether in part or whole. You could also speak to the ADA, the investigator or the victim's assistance coodinator.
