Mean Mallard Pt. #2

Had to be in Jackson yesterday and decided I would stop in the mallat to check out the "going out of business, doors closing forever sale." Almost had to tie my boat up at the front doors with all the rain.

Walked in, no one anywhere in sight. Finally I hear a voice, it's a girl behind the counter with, well.........we'll just say she might have had a "gland problem." She was giggling and cuttin' up the phone like she was in the 8th grade. I made 3 complete slow laps around the store. Finally heard some voices in the back room. Walked in there, couple guys talking and I'm still in the invislbe mode I guess. Never even acknowledged I was on the planet.

Make it back to the front, stopped and looked at some greenhead salt and pepper shakers right by the counter. Counter Queen hangs up the phone, looks at me and starts to read a paper. Just as I turned to walk out the door, she wipes the Hot Fries off her mouth, washes the rest down with a "diet" Coke, swallows real big and says "Did you need some help?"

It was all I could do not to laugh in her face!!! I've been in there atleast 20 mins circling like a buzzard.

Great way to run a business. Didn't look like they were closing to me, but maybe they don't have to do any business.

The mean mallard is the biggest joke of a hunting store. I have never seen service as poor as that store, and I have never seen people as incompetent as the owner or the employees. I have always said Jackson needs a full service quality hunting store, but the MM meets neither of those criteria. The only decent store that I have been in lately is Discount Hunting and fishing, but it is too far from north jackson. I guess I will continue to buy from real hunting stores like slater's and the sportsman in the delta. Good riddance to the present owner of the mm, and good luck to the new owners.

Does anyone happen to know if they were selling hevi-shot for 60% off. Did they have any left?

Sounds like things have gone downhill for the MM.

Personally, I hate it. While they never were very professional, ( due to youth,... I think ! ) It was\ is a neat store to look around in.

JMHO !

I agree... the MM is highly overpriced and EVERY (and I mean EVERY) time I have gone there, I have circled around the store in "invisible mode." I totally agree that the MM is a joke, as far as customer service and prices go!

What about the new store "The Outfitter" , anybody else been in there? I've been there a few times and always get good service and the people there are real friendly.

Good looking store that don't have a bunch of junk laying around on the floor. They got a duck blind built right in the middle of the store  Pretty Cool

Boss...it's located on Highway 49 South in Richland. Just go south on 49 and you'll see it on the left hand side off the highway(northbound lane).
932-2828 if you can't find it.

Chaser.. I wish I did get commission! That way I could buy more hunting gear without the wife knowing! The guy who runs the place is a longtime friend of mine who has been in the hunting business for sometime now. He's a good guy who can help you anyway he can.

Rip em - If you come up 49 from Laurel, you'll first come through my neck of the woods, Magee. When you hit the Richland city limits on 49 start looking for it on your right or you'll miss it. It's hard to see coming from the south. Keep looking on the left hand side of the road (southbound lane) for a place call Southern Sports, a 4 Wheeler dealership, you should see some 4 wheelers out front and some Kawasaki Mules, and the Outfitter is just up the road on the northbound side, about a 1/4 of a mile. By the way Rip em, I'm just a customer and good friend of the guy who runs the place.
