ATV Decision

Ive got a 2001 Honda 400 Foreman with about 8,000 miles. It runs strong but needs some work, like brakes, front tires, maybe a wheel bearing, that sorta thing. Anyway, i figure if i take it to the shop, get a tune up, and brake work done i am gonna be out a grand or so. Anybody got any idea what it would be worth in good condition? They are running some good deals at lake hill right now on the 420's, im trying to decide if i want to put that grand into it or just sell it like it is and get a new one.

The only issue they are having with the 420's is the backfiring. If you let off the gas really quick, especially at higher speeds, it will backfire big time. The bikes are so leaned out now when it comes to epa standards and such. Other than that, I have no other probs with mine.

If you get a new one. You might be better off parting the old one out than trying to sell it out right.

Maybe so, but i dont have the time to fool with that. Wheeler runs strong, its sound motor, front/rear end, etc. I figure with brakes and tires i could get $2,200 or so for it, or $1,500 like it sits. That sound about right?

If it was me and with the economy the way it is, I would just fix the old one. Heck if it aint done you wrong theres no need in getting rid of it

i'd say you could probably get 2000-2500 for it if its 4wd. brakes can easily be changed by yourself. the wheel bearing is a little more of a pain but can still be done if you have some mechanical ability.

Unless you got cash burning a hole in your pocket, fix it. If you do have cash burning a hole in your pocket, fix the bike and then put the remaining amount towards some stock investments. Make money, not spend money.

I havent had brakes in a couple years . . . dont know why im all of a sudden concerned about it! Think im jus gonna fix the sumbitch and keep on rolling. Where is the best place to buy tires at? I figure i could get them cheap on the internet, got a little service station that will mount them for cheap.
