Is this normal?

I have recently purchased a new Mission X3. Matthews product.

Setup:
27" @ 63 lbs
Whisker biscuit
D Loop
Tube peep
ICS Beeman 400 tipped with 100 Grain field tips, supposible cut for bow
Bow IBO: 310

Problem:
Is a 10 inch drop from 20-30 normal? 3 different shooters, same results.

Been shooting a hoyt 2002 model, and I use the same pin from 10-30 with no problems. This new bow has me stumped. I can't figure out why it would drop 10 inches, in 10 yards. Could be normal, just can't see it. What's ya'lls take? The hoyt is setup almost the exact same, except 65 lbs.

You don't know how bad I want my money back LOL. If i would have known this, I would have never purchased the thing.
Since purchase:
Bow's peep has came untied, 15 shots after buying it!
All arrows have torn the fletchings!
Quality work by George!!

Truthfully, I should have left the bow at the shop. I have shot it maybe 50 times, and have to take it to the closet dealer to see about some things. I may have a problem, that me and mr. store owner are going to have to sort out.

you're talking about a 10" drop from 20 to 30 yards...then yea that is probably gonna be close to right give or take a couple of inches....

I would be pissed about the other stuff...but your probably shooting around 260 fps with that setup (you lose roughly 8 fps per inch the shorter you draw is, so you lose 24 fps on a 27" draw from IBO, not to mention all the other stuff on the string, and I bet the arrows weigh more than IBO 5gr per pound of draw too).... most folks will shoot the same pin out to thirty cause they're around 4-5 inches high at 20 and about 4-5 low at thirty.....

I can find someone to run it through a ballistics calculator if you want (there is probably something on bowjackson's site that would work)...but I think you're probably close....

Im 260 fps and at 30 yards my bow still shoots the same as it does at 20 yards. Its a bear instinct 29 in draw 68 pound pull.

I get a lot of rollin eyes when I say it. I aim no different at 5 yards or 40 yards. Maybe God likes me more than most folks but proof is in the pudding. I killed one a 10, 20somethin, 32, and 40 yards, this year. Only one of the shots was not on. That was because when the arrow left one of my fletchings came off and it did a loopdy doo. Killed that deer anyway. Anyhow, I use one pin and dont change my aim from 0 to 30. Apparently I can go up to 40 with that measurement even though that was a misjudge but dead on shot.
If my bow was doing that it would be impossible for me to hunt because I would have taken it back by now. No way to be consistent and accurate with that type of garbage goin on. To many X factors.

Could some of it be luck or instinct ? Highly possible but I call myself taking the same careful aim each time with one pin!

here is an easy to use ballistics chart for arrows...I'm gonna be real unpopular about saying this but there isn't a bow that I'm aware of that will shoot to the exact same point of impact at both 20 & 30 yards....

Missed Mallards...some quick checking if you are shooting ICS 400 (black arrows) with 3&7/8 vanes and they are 25.5 inches long your arrow should weigh around 373 grains.... add 10-15 grains for the peep tube, and 3-5 for the loop...for every three grains you add to the arrow/string you're gonna lose around 1 fps off IBO speed.... an IBO arrow for your bow would weigh 315 grains (63 pounds draw times 5 gr. per pound) so you lose 58 grains there which is slightly over 19 fps, say the peep tube and loop are light and only weigh 18 grains, you lose another 6 fps there, so you end up right around 261 fps (that is if you don't have other things like string leeches, brass nocks, etc. that slow it down a bit more)....plug that into the calculator above...assuming you zero at 20 yards the arrow will drop 8 inches at thirty yards...so I was off a bit, but it was pretty close to 10"....

you realize that "give or take a couple inches" leaves you with at least a 5 inch window?

you are such a lawyer.

I dont think my recurve has that kind of drop from 20 to 30 yards, yes it does drop but not 10 inches.

Something is going on with your bow.

I shoot the same pin at 20 and 30 yards with no more than an inch or to difference and I compensate for that. I would try a differnt arrow lighter broadhead different fletching something to get alittle more range out of the top pin........my .02
