Petition to help FWS manage waterfowl refuge for waterfowl!
Guys and gals, we are in the middle of a controversy up here regarding Union Slough National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge was created under the Migratory Bird Act as a refuge for waterfowl and other migratory birds. USFWS officials are planning to restore tall-grass prairie habitat to provide needed habitat and nesting cover since their nesting success rate is only about 12%, but a group of locals has started a petition drive to stop them and get them to manage for other species. We think that this is not only an important issue locally, but to waterfowlers throughout the country.
