Not thinking about it for this year already got holes started!
Will milo work well if you broadcast on mud flats like you can with millet, or does it have to be covered with some dirt? Can milo be broadcast in shallow water, 1 inch or less, or are you just wasteing time and money?

Re: Question about Milo?
I've seen milo planted that way too many times and my humble opinion is waste of time. ANYTHING planted fro a food source should be cultivated for maximum food production. In the instance of milo, you're talking competition control (at least moderately), fertilization and midge control (requires double application). Rare are the times I've seen milo produce anything of significance without midge control. A few seeds here and there, but why not go moist-soil management or put some millet onto teh area instead? Just my humble opinion.

Re: Question about Milo?
Thanks Double R, I got a place where we can control the water in one hole. We dropped the water off slowly exposing the the mud flats and we were right behind it with both jap and browntop millet. I was just wondering if we got one bag milo and mixed it in with the millet would it do any good! I'll try and get a few pics when the millet starts heading out so you can see what we did.

Only time I ever planted milo, the midges wore it out. I had nothing but blank heads afterwards.

JMHO, but I'd leave it be. If you've got some sure-nuff farming type plantings going on, interplant milo and corn every 8 or so rows, but grow it all like you're farming commercial. And TREAT FOR MIDGES!

I didn't know midgets ate milo. don't tell gator, he might quit duck hunting if he thinks he will run across a midget.
