Got back from the honeymoon *pics*

Postby duramax » Wed Jun 11, 2008 2:59 pm

I just got back from my honeymoon yesterday night. We went to Canada. Started in Vancouver and drove to Calgary. We stayed in Banff for a few days and hiked around there and went looking for animals (elk primarily). We rode horses in Kelowna, BC one day and I saw a monster blacktailed deer that would have been Boone and Crocket for sure.

Only thing that wasn't good about the trip was that it was unseasonably cold and it rained almost every day. There were still hiking trails closed due to avalanche warnings because they still had a lot of snow in places. The lady at the park office said they were about 1 month behind normal weather wise. All that global warming I guess

We took lots of pictures and will post some tomorrow.

Yeah. From all that riding...

horses

Seriously I was sore for 2 days after a 1 hour trail ride. I've ridden horses before, but I guess I'd forgotten how little fun it is after riding them. The damn stirrup on the right side of the saddle had my foot pointing inward and made the outside of my knee hurting 10 minutes in. But the wife (still weird to say) wanted to go for a horse ride on the trip, so we did.

Brother, I would NOT have admitted that. :P BTW - welcome home. It'll take a few days for the ring to settle in and feel right, but you'll get used to it.

from all that... nevermind. :P

How long / far a drive was it from vancouver to banff? I looked into it when we were up there and it seems like it was a good five hundred miles. Didn't want to do all that much driving on the trip, so whistler was the other (closer) choice.

We went to Kelowna first and stayed there one night (about half way - 4.5hours from Vancouver). Then we drove to Banff from there, about 5-6 hours.

I take it from the pic with your bride holding a duckling, that she at least has an idea as to what she's gotten herself into. Or, is she like mine and thinks all cute little baby creatures stay that way? :D

Seriously, nice pics. It looks like you two had a good time up there.

Neat pics. Wife and I stayed at the Banff Springs Hotel on our Honeymoon. Lake Louise is amazing! American dollar used to go along way in Canada, not so much anymore.
