Mud Motor on River Hawk or Gheenoe?
Mud Motor on River Hawk or Gheenoe?
Can you use a small mud motor (Go Devil, Mudbuddy, etc.) on a River Hawk or Gheenoe? Also, for you guys that have used these boats in cypress breaks and other areas with stumps, snags, etc., how do they hold up to punishment? Can you break ice with them, or are the hulls too thin/fragile?
partner has ganooe
Partner has ganooe that we use in a 300 acre cypress break.....re-fiberglassed about 3-4 holes this year....also...rubbed a hole around the drain plug....ok...now....
The transom is not going to be strong enough...and the bottom wont take the abuse that a mud/stump boat would require......I would not want to be in one out in the middle of a large body of water....
works great in 10-18 inches...electric motor or push pole...
good luck....
just my opinion...

I had a River Hawk for 3 years. I really used it (hunted 40 days out of it one year). Most hunts were in cypress breaks. I normally had a 15hp outboard on it, but when the water was low I used a small (5hp) go devil. I think I patch the bottom 3 times and replaced the transome once. I now own an aluminum boat. Me personally, I won't own another fiberglass boat. But, you can put a small go devil on it.
my gheenoe has some places near the plug and on the side where the fiberglass has been scrubbed off. It's not leaking....yet.....what do you guys suggest doing as an easy fix? i know they have fiberglass repair kits, i was thinking of maybe putting some store bought line-x type stuff on those spots....what do yall think?
