Generators
I'm going to pick up my new used camper next weekend (hopefully) and I know I am going to break down and buy a generator for it this summer. I am interested in buying a honda but they are kind of pricey but you can barely hear them run. Does anyone have a specific brand they would recommend? All I need is one big enough to run a small camper ect.....

Re: Generators
Break down and buy either the Honda or Yamaha. Honda is the EU series, but I can't remember the Yamaha one. I know they make one as a buddy had one when we went to the LSU/Bama game a couple years ago.
Search eBay and you will find some good deals on either.

hey Duckkiller,
Just curious what drove you to get the camper? What are you using it for, a mobile hunting camp? BTW - has Florida grown on you?

I have been wanting one for some time now, I will use it as a place to stay when I'm in the delta hunting as well as a place to stay in the spring/summer months when I am fishing the delta lakes and rivers. I just got tired of searching for a hitel room all the time and then paying out my rip for one when I found it.
Florida is great, its still far from Mississippi but hey I got another semester down and only 3 more to go. ITs not all that bad once you find some stuff to do, I have found me some fishing holes so that makes the time fly by even faster.

Lots of good info on RVing.. Warning.. The Tow Vehicle Conversations get pretty intersting.. I did find out that my truck was not made for pulling my camper.. Even though it was rated for it.. Wish I would have seen that before I bought it..
But they have all the info on generators also.. The only thing that concerns me about the Honda and Yamaha is that a single one may not have enough power to run everything on your TT.. I have heard where they have to link two of them together..

I know the Hondas can be linked together. Take two 3kw and have a single 6kw output. I'm not 100% sure on the Yamahas though. It all depends on the size of your camper and how much you want to run at one time.

Re: Generators
i just saw this the other day. friend was borrowing a friends camper...had 2 honda generators, but only 1 was running....quiet as a church mouse....said he only needed both if he had the air running. one would pull tv, frig, and lights
Re: Generators
Here is a ebay auction link to a single unit that has the parallel box mounted to it. Tqo EU2000 generators can put out 30 amps which is what a normal hookup is at a campground site. This one is a little pricey, but you can easily find them in the $500 each range. A quick ebay search for the Yamaha shows they are running much higher in price compared to the Hondas, in excess of $900 on the low side.

Re: Generators
thanks guys I am pretty sure I will end up gettign a Honda but I now I am trying to figure out how many watts I need. The camper is a pop up so all I will be running is lights, ac/heater, ect... No fridge as of right now(maybe in the future) and possibly a small tv/vcr. I am pretty sure a 5000watt will do but I am wondering if I can get by with smaller. I know its always better to go big and have some extra than to not have enough but I cant help but wonder

Re: Generators
The AC is the killer... If your pop up has a battery the lights will run off that.. But the 1 honda ought to do for just a pop up..

Re: Generators
Most single A/C travel trailers are rated for 30A service. When you get into dual A/C units do you start seeing 50A service. That being said and seeing that (2) EU2000i generators will produce 30A, that would be all you need to run EVERYTHING in your pop-up. A single EU3000 may run everything you need as well. If you needed more, you could always get a 2nd one and the parallel kit. They will more than make up their cost in quietness. You can literally run them on the side the camper and you will barely hear them running.
