Just got my MS Oudoor Magazine in yesterday, and saw the big article about Mahannah WMA. It talked about how good it was for deer and duck, but I was wondering what everybody thought was the the best All-around Management Areas in MS?

My personal favorite is Your Favorite WMA. Its location and size are incredible, as well as the fact that there is little to no pressure. From its rolling hills to the acres flat delta and even its coastal region, YFWMA has it all. I especially like the zebra hunting, although the lion and tigers are something special during the rut on some sections of YFWMA.

I could go on and on about how great YFWMA is and why it is better than MFWMA ("Mike's Favorite WMA"), but then again, I think I know a little better -- and so should everyone else.

I swear that some of these posts must be made in anticipation of the responses they will receive. I could be wrong but fate is not generally this consistent.

Yeah, you're gettin' the hang of it.

I'd like to see it get to the point that there's a question like this and NO RESPONSE !....not that any of ya'll did anything wrong by replying....but after a few BLANKS, folks'll finally give-up on trying to get answers to 'where to go' questions.

Beatle.....we're not pickin' on YOU, in particular.....'just trying to manage the flow of info on the internet that inevitably leads to over-crowding on public lands in Mississippi. The best way (certainly more reliable than taking the word of a stranger), to learn whether YFWMA is any good, is to jump off in there like everybody else......Go hunting. You'll learn a lot more by gettin' your feet wet.

There are some very EXPERIENCED hunters on this board that will be glad to answer most questions, but when it comes to mentioning public hunting spots, you probably won't get anything but a negative response, if any at all. For more info on how we feel about this subject, scroll-down about 2 pages on this board and read 'Coming to a WMA near you', by yours truly. It's for the good of all waterfowlers in Mississippi. Good Luck and keep posting!

Better yet, the truck that beat you has out of state plates. Personally, I don't mind the Mahannah article. That place is already wasted. I'd just as soon that be the designated "snow bird" sanctuary; get 50% off with out of state plates! Besides, there is no real trick there - you just get in the field and skybomb. Limits there are too easy, there is no real challenge. I know a relative that had one of them spinners with a remote control and he just sat up in the field and got limits just about every time.

I'm with Swamp Rat. If someone beats you to your spot (out-of-state plates or not) then you should have got up earlier. There's NOTHING more aggravating than someone piling in on top of you right at daylight.

Well, I'm gonna jump-out on a limb here, and answer Beatle34's question...indirectly (since he didn't know we were SO particular about this sorta thing).

MFWMA (Myfavorite WMA) is wherever I can go,

that I don't have to get-up at 3am to beat a crowd of folks
that holds enough ducks that haven't been pressured
that folks won't set-up within 200yds of you and call your ducks
where you don't have to confront another hunter over something that shouldn't have become an issue to start with
that I cna come away from, with good memories and hopefully a few ducks
that I don't find garbage that some other hunter left behind
where other hunters are cordial, considerate, and tight-lipped 'bout that management area, so there's not TWICE the hunters there, next time you go
where hunters get there early enough and set-up well before shooting time so they don;t interfere with my chances for success

Now, question is.....does such a place exsist? If it does, then don't tell anyone where it is, 'cause it won't be that way, long. I doubt that there IS a place like that in Mississippi!

Forget the WMA's, go to Gravalene Bay on the coast (near Ocean Springs ) or get out of bed early and do some scouting.
