Fishing is ghreat, My dad goes up there with one of his customers every year crappie fishing and they usuallyu bring home some nice ones. As for the golf course, the word circulating around the golf community is that Jackson COuntry CLub is thinking of buying it and reopening it. I got this info from an equipment salesmen that we used when I was in Starkville, and I have also been told that by my old boss who was contacted about a possible interview if and when it all went through

I played the golf course before it turned into CRP

. It was good back in the day for these parts (not that I am a golfer -- last time I played was there three years ago).

They would have to spend several million just to get that thing playable again I would assume.

Your probably right, I'm jsut saying what I have been told, My old boss was wanting me to come back and be his assistant at the course he is on now when I finish school and told me about being contacted. The thing I do like about the rumor is that if it is indeed true I will be finishing school about the time the new grow in finishes up. As I said these are all rumors but from reliable sources, so who knows what, if, or when something happens

my buddy lives there. A very nice place no doubt. I was there 2 weeks ago and saw the golf course

. i almost fell out. I looked like crap. He said that they were expecting it to be revamped, according to some ruling and meeting the people had. he could care a less though. If they keep letting it grow up, he will go rabbit hunting over there. He don't really fit in with them

. Oh yeah, they fishing is pretty dang good too

CCJ has about 2000 members, so we have enough folks. We already have 27 holes and are in the process of spending $15.0 million to convert to bermuda, change a few holes, and do massive work to the club house, fitness center, pro shop etc. Most of the members live within 5-7 miles of the course. I doubt there would be any interest to own that facility since there are no tennis courts, swimming pools, restaraunts, etc. that families would want or to make the drive.

I agree with Bankerman... The rumors about the partnership between CCJ and another partner from my understanding didn't/will not happen and were really not that serious. IMO we have ample courses in the area to support whatever your finances will allow. The golf course (Caroline) was separate from the property owners pool and other things. It was just that... a golf club, not a country club. As for the fishing... it is great. I have consumed many beverages and caught many large fish on that lake while fishing with a good friend of mine (I don't live there).

Thats one good thing about jackson is that these kind of developments are around. Theres nothing like that to my knowledge in the memphis area. I think the difference is land prices are higher up here, and u cant sell lots in a lake.

Fishing sucks! The guys that manage it have no clue what is going on.
