Force-to-pile is a procedure, and a step in the force fetch process. During FF we teach "Hold", then "Fetch" (via ear pinch or toe hitch, usually), some then stick fetch, then e-collar condition to fetch, fetch-no-fetch; all of which are all-forward functions. The dog is moving forward to fetch during all of these steps, and continues moving forward.
In FTP we put together a bit more obedience with the FF functions, completing the fully trained retreive; Fetch & Recall. The dog moves forward to fetch, then returns to Heel; finishing the retrieve in relatively the same manner he will perform all retrieves in the field in live applications.
How is it done? Questions like that are why guys like me write books and make DVD's about it!It's not a secret. It's just very involved if done correctly. It involves significant preparation and proper execution.
About what age to you begin force to pile???? Pup is 15 weeks old and knows "fetch". I know let a pup be a pup for a while and not to put pressure on em to early so as not to kill their drive but just wondering when you would start. I trained a HRCH dog from start to finish in 1yr 10 mo and skipped some steps to get there and wanna do it "right" on this one.
