I just about mastered cooking over the camp fire throughout more than a few camping expiditions. But i never was worth a crap with a dutch oven. Im gonna get some practice this spring in the back yard at the fire pitt before turkey season gets here for sure!

Any body got any tips for cooking cobbler, I always get to pot to hot. Too many coals i guess!

If you can find a dutch oven with legs on it, they work alot better for cooking outside. When baking (pizza, bisquits, bread, etc.) use those aluminium plates that come in the large mess kits (they fit perfect in the bottom of a standard dutch oven). Put one in the bottom upside down then another right side up to better regulate temperature. I wouldn't try the plate trick with the cobbler though :D
