Greenville MS Cop vs Citizen

Postby Jelly » Wed Feb 20, 2008 8:55 am

Anyone know anymore about this. I know there are two sides to every story. I know there is a precinct adjacent to the blockbuster. I know this guy peronally. Just wanted some more info. I was told he was taking a movie back to blockbuster when an officer parked in a handicapped spot and he confronted the officer. He proceeded to go inside to get witnesses and got arrested for causing a disturbance  before he could get it "documented". I was also told when he was leaving the police station, they were really nice to him. This guy is not a smart booty, in fact he is a former green beret. He just likes to see the right things are done. Again, I just want more info if available..

I can't believe that they are even going to let this go to court...

Police Chief Lester Carter said today, “The officer was responding to a disturbance call at Blockbuster. At the present time, the internal affairs division and I are looking into the incident.

“When an officer is responding to an emergency call, then the vehicle becomes an emergency vehicle,” Carter added. “It can override all the codes. Once they get everything under control, then he can come out and properly park the vehicle.”

Sounds to me like he was responding to a call and parked where he could park. While the other guy probably didn't know that the officer was responding to a call, creating a disturbance on top of a disturbance wasn't very wise.

That's what I was thinking. The officer never said a word and completely forgot about the kicking incident when a citizen asked him. It's funny that he didn't get arrested til he tried to to inside and get witnesses. How was he causing a disturbance?

The citizen called into the Gallow show this morning.. He said there were plenty of places to park besides the Handicap spot..

He said when he went and talked to his lawyer about the case, he couldn't get a word in edge wise because the lawyer was laughing so much..

You all should become cops. You seem to know exactly what went on. You would make very good detectives.

Wingman, maybe we are making assumptions but maybe you are also. The call to blockbuster was not brought up by the office in his explanation. I'm sure we'll never know the truth. Based on what the citizen said, the officer was abusing his power. Keep in mind there is a precinct connected to the blockbuster and I have personally seen officers park in the handicapped spaces and walk in the precinct with plenty of other spaces available. I was told the cop got really upset when confronted. Do you think if the officer would have said, "sorry sir, but I am repsonding to a call here at blockbuster, please vacate the premises." Not that he has to, but there is no reason for him to be a peepee either. It doesn't cost a dime to be nice...

All I'm saying is that sometimes you think you know the whole story, when you really don't have all of the facts.

Don't trust the media to give you all of the facts.

See Winklers post from above. The Vet went on the radio and told us what happened.. The officer has not. I didn't make an opinion based on the Media, it was straight from the horses mouth. the citizen even thinks it's comical because the officer got so upset..
