After 3 or 4 days, it gets better.

The first couple weeks is never the problem for me when I've tried quitting, it's always a month or more down the line, around buddies either drinking or hunting..... I just can't take that, has gotten me everytime.

I just finally got PISSED AT MYSELF for letting this thing get hold of me... it HAD me!
I gritted my teeth and kept remembering how stupid it is to put a carcinogen on your mouth half the day every day.
Its just a dumbass thing to do. I want to live long, love long and hunt long- I'm not gonna voluntarily cash in my own chips for a short buzz.

Hope that helps you

If you can't make it cold turkey, try chantix. I've heard nothing but good things about it. After all though, it's all mental. At least thats what I'm gonna do here before long

I am two weeks out with no smokes or dip. I had quit a week before that, but I smoked a few cigs that week.
I started with the patch and Nicorette gum for the bad cravings and I stopped the patches last weekend. I figured i was just prolonging the withdrawals.

Now, I am just chewing regular gum and drinking coffee. If a bad craving hits, I'll chew the Nicorette gum. The craving and habits are there, but I am breaking them slowly. I am about to go to the bar for the first time in 3 weeks too. So we'll see how that works out.

Also remember, quitting is easy.

I had to start smoking to quit dipping...after that quitting smoking wasn't hard at all. I haven't had a dip in 3 years, but I will smoke 2-3 packs a year during duck season only...gotta do something in the duck blind.

and I do enjoy a good cigar with a single malt on occasion.

im in same boat... haven't bought another redman bag in two weeks.. i did have a few scattered bags left over here and there.. but im going through withdrawals.. i've found if u can eliminate those places that you always chew/dip and just work on those it will be easier.. for some its at bars or drinking or after a big meal etc.. i love to talk with a big fat hairy chew in my mouth.. new guy at work has half a right jaw from dipping.. he is in his early 40's... that really bothered me..

It's tough but do-able.

It's not for everybody but I kept handy a small straw to chew on.... whatever works.

Good luck bro.
