Dogs need prayers too CONDITION UPDATE 2/1

Postby kaustin » Fri Jan 25, 2008 9:47 am

Cleaning kennels last night letting my 3 play together. Whistle for them and only 1 comes. Put him up and start looking. I live on 4 acres and they usually just run around, go to lake, or just play right there. I looked til about 7 and gave up because looking for black dog in dark seemed useless. Anyway, got up at first light this morning and started looking on sides of roads. Finally found them. Tink looked real bad. Skin had been peeled back from shoulder to mid abdomen and was hanging. Jake had a banged up front leg. They both tried to stand when I approached. They are currently at vet getting checked out. I may have to take Tink to Starkville if injury is worse than we first thought. Whole family is leaving this afternoon for a week long cruise. I will try to update the situation as I can. Please keep my boys in your prayers. They are upset and asking a lot of questions. Luckily I had just dropped them off when I found the dogs because like I said, she looked bloody. These are the two that I bred recently.
Thanks,
Kenny

Done. I hope that they get better.

jake seems to be fine. x-rays came back negative for any fractures. He has a few cuts and scrapes but nothing major. Tink has been on the operating table for about 3 hours now and is still there. I'm still waiting to hear news on her but surgery is taking a little longer than I thought it would. I guess they wanted to check everything while they had her sedated. I'll post more when I know more

so far so good. after a whole lot of suturing Tink is out of surgery and doing good. Vet said next two weeks will be the critical time. if tissue lost blood supply before it was replaced, it can die off and cause infection. It was so large of a piece, about 2 off my heads, that her body is in shock right now. depending how things heal it could cause more shock. Thanks for the prayers. I think the vacation is probably the best thing that could have happened. At least I will have something else on my mind.
