dats not a long trip man.... we've been on sum humdingers.
When rowdy was running for the 500 point record, josh (dukdawgen) & ronnie (wildog) took him to south carolina for a weekend hunt (13 hours). Me & troy & ronnie took him to kankee marsh indiana that same fall, 13 hours away. Tempature dropped 30 degrees on ride up there! Last summer we went to texas gulf coast to judge 12 hours away. First upland I ever ran was in big d, 11 hours away. We'd never seen an upland, or a chukker, and went 27 outta 28 tests, 6 new upland hunters in a weekend. We used to make a point to go somewhere we've never been before every season, got out the habit last coupla years. Went to central la last august, 6.5 hours away, by myself... never make a trip like that again without a truck full diesle and hotel liked to kill me. Going on a roadtrip to a hunt test with a buncha guys is like on a road trip when you where a kid... its a blast. Cept instead of going to a concert or a beach its a hunt test when you get there. I highly reccomend doing a little traveling and see how other folks, states, and regions do it, its eye opening. travis

we drove all night to get there... couldnt get into hotel at 530 in the morning, so we went to the beach, got drunk on homemade snaaps, and watched the sun come up while my dogs played in the waves. cant do that around here. It was worth the trip by 8 am on friday morning, the hunt test just got better from there! travis

I would like to take a long trip to one somewhere like that. Money aint right right now though. Furthest I've been from home on a hunt test I guess would be South Mississippi or Old Hatchie. I liked Old Hatchie, that was fun!! I'll definitely go back there this year!!

You folks down there in Miss. that are just getting started in this stuff are spoiled. You have so many good clubs within 1-2 hours of you your driving time can be very little. I encourage everyone to go run as many places as possible because there really are some super folks all over the place. I TRY to hit at least one HT a year that I haven't ever been to...or at least one that I haven't been to in a while...kinda' keeps it fresh.
Charles, we were talking with Trail of Tears about having an upland in conjuntion with our test, but we didn't feel as though we had enough time to get it rolling. Look for that to happen in the fall.
