For anybody who is interested there are still plenty of ducks up here-but they are hard to get.I hunt the Ms. river bottoms just nw of St. Louis. The forecast for tommorrow am is light snow and 23. We haven't had ice(except for skim less than 1/4 ")in 1 1/2 weeks.Turned the pump on @ 7:30 ,hoping we have open water in am.Haven't killed a duck in 2 days-didn't even shoot this am or yesterday pm.Spend most of the time staring at the blue sky.You can stand in the middle of the decoys and land ducks within 30 yards 10 min. after shooting time. The rest of the day very few ducks give you more than one high pass-even fewer get within gun range.Should be froze solid by Christmas.Merry Christmas to all-will report after Christmas -Happy Hollidays!

Well, I heard from a guy at the barber shop, that lives down the street, from a guy that used to be married to a frederal game wardens ex wife's cousin, that du is to blame for what you are seeing. Yes sir... I hate to break it to you. Seems they bought all those ducks tiny lil watches so they know what time the tv show is on, and the ducks are using that to know what time they can fly. bwhahahaha
What ducks are feeding on you? You must be a commie pinko game hog! bwhahahahahahahahahahaha.
No wait. It's a lesbian commie pinko game hog with a half twist double moca! Dat's it!
I say we picket out front of DU head quaters... tie ourselves to jamerson parkers wheelchair.... we need a good riot induced chant. Being the smart one of this bunch, I think I'll make us up one.
HELL NO, IT AIN'T SNOW!
HELL NO, IT AIN'T SNOW!
IT DU'S TV SHOW THATS GOT TO GO!
Yes sir, I know a thing a two bout a thing or two, and thats DEFIENTLY a conspricy if I ever seen one. travis

Hey, maybe they can get Phil Robertson to take his place.
BWAAAHAHahahaha
.....'might boost membership.
......or, how 'bout that Matthews fella from Avery (Sorry, Phil)....."This week, we're going to show you how to use a cell phone to call the farmer and tell him to come pump our field up for us..........
really, really, really!" ......then we'll show you how to celebrate a miracle........6 people stand-up and empty their guns on one duck at 75 yards from a roll-top blind......and it glides 200yds before it hits the third a levee over.
"NICE SHOT, NICE SHOT, NICE SHOT!!!" Then we'll dedicate the next show to tell hunters how they can determine which one of those 6 'expert' shotgun specialists actually HIT the duck. Then we'll do a segment entitled.......'If we had a retriever, we wouldn't have to drive the 4-wheeler so far to pick-up our cripples."

Looks like there are still plenty of ducks but they are hard to get.River is still open and some fields (where pumps are running). Hey, Thanks for the report mdb1...'hope to see some birds soon.
Matthews can't host the DU show......it's only 30 minutes long and he says everything in triplicate which would require 1-1/2 hours air-time. But as fast as he talks, they still might cram-in one of his frantic hunts in the alotted time frame. "Really, really, really........nice shot, nice shot, nice shot."
Yours truly, "Get'em, get'em, get'em!

1/07/03:hunted bootheel thurs.&mon. Saw alot of smart ducks land 50 to a 100 yds. outside of decoys both days. Didn't kill a duck thurs. Yesterday we hunted a better pool three of us killed 11 mallards and 1 greenwing. Saw a couple of groups of pintails(closed up here) and a couple of groups of teal , other than that all mallards. 1/31/03(last day of Mo. middle zone) 3 killed 6 greenheads-weather is forecasted to be warm here all week so if ducks move south it won't be from ice or snow up here , there isn't any-sorry. I still see large no.s of birds up here.

sounds like the fat lady is getting ready for her annual performance folks...
This season has been better than last year but pretty poor when looking back. Maybe we'll get a freakish cold blast the last week....we'll see.
Do the snow dance for us MO.

Can't belive dat ya'll would mack on dem avery dudes video... $#!+, if it weren't for the whole steel shot conspricy dem dudes would empty 6 guns and that would only sail 100 yards before it fell.
Empty 6 guns and knock down a duck. Dem guys are shooting good compared to us last weekend! Ah curmba. By the time we had the first duck on the bench sunday, we had 20 hulls on the floor... 2 whiffs on a sucidal greenhead by my bro, and 3 of us shooting to the plugs before we cracked an old gals wing and she sailed 165 yards... I ain't trashing nobody's shooting for a while after that display.
Had a perfectly good zone, blown to hell. Tellin ya'll, i was in a zone. Since pintails weren't legal when i went into this DUCK KILLING zone, my mind had a block onthe lil buggers. Near as i can figger, when I started blasting hell outta them sat morning, my mind hadn't reaized it was pintail season so it was shanking my shots.
Cudda been a conspricy on my shells though. Im not ruling it out. travis
