Sorry you didnt like it. Dont apply next year. That will increase my odds of getting drawn. I have thoroughly enjoyed myself out there this year. It will get even better.

I'm patient and willing to wait.

You can only hunt there on certain days, I don't think you have that much time!

I'm referring to the fact that this property was just acquired by the MDWFP this summer and I'm willing to be patient to allow the cover to grow (without complaining) in order to make a better hunting experience.

Alot of people complaining about "the MDWFP not leaving any cover." For heavens sake give it some time.

But, until then, I'm just glad to have the opportunity to go see a place with lots of ducks. And, we killed some on every trip :D .

You must be one of those that doesn't report his kills then. MDWFP weekly waterfowl report shows an average of 1.3 ducks per hunter killed on Howard Miller for the entire season. :? I had the opportunity to hunt Howard Miller last weekend and passed on it. I don't live in the delta so I don't have the capability of doing any scouting but feel like the MDWFP would post accurate numbers. Maybe they aren't getting them as accurate as they think they are due to hunters not doing their part.

(and before I get ate up about not going, I wasn't drawn, I was invited and chose not to go)

I absolutely DO REPORT MY HARVEST. According to Kevin B. the parties that I have hunted with have been way over the success of the average parties. I guess that puts us at "way above average."

Mind you, we have never limited out there, but there have been 4 people in our party each time, but we have taken enough to be satisfied. Our harvest numbers ranged from 2 - 17 per trip (5 trips). Most of my enjoyment has been in taking rookie duck hunters who are now hooked. More than one of the rookies I have been with at Howard Miller has made this comment, "how can anyone deny the existance of God after seeing and experiencing the beauty I have seen this morning."

My point is: there have been alot of ducks on Howard Miller all season, even since November. Current cover conditions may not be the best for killin' but they (the ducks) are there. If they aint there (the ducks) then there is no, absolutely NO opportunity for KILLIN'.

Trust me, MDWFP is reporting everything that gets turned in. IMO, if you are caught not turning in harvest report cards, then you should be cited for it. Remember harvest reporting is an average. Its an average of lack of success and the presence of success. My parties just happened to be in the later group  . When we get back to the truck each hunt, we are usually, cold, wet, muddy, and have a headache from working real hard to be successful.

One of the best hunts I was in on, we only killed 2 ducks (a mallard and one grinner), but our impoundment was absolutely "flogged by mallards and pintails" that we could do nothing with, but we enjoyed it none the less.

you have no clue who your talking to do you?? look at the MDWFP forum, non-game discussion, anything to to with gators. I think he would report his harvest...
