Public Hunting Spot ?

Postby limit6 » Tue Dec 10, 2002 8:37 am

I have read many discussions on this board concerning public hunting in MS and most of them are full of complaints about other hunters being rude at the boat ramp, setup spot, skyblasting, etc.

I was invited by a friend to my first public duck hunt Saturday, and I must say it was a very enjoyable experience. I appreciate the fact that there are those hunters who disregard everything but themselves and feel like they have full title to the property, but Saturday everyone involved acted very appropriately.

We didn't have any problems at the boat ramp, people setting up too close, a little skybusting but not too bad. I enjoyed it enough that I will hopefully make another trip or two this year.

I would like to thank everyone hunting at this undisclosed location for acting like true sportsman this weekend and showing courteousy to all involved.

By the way, duck numbers were mediocre, but still a great time outdoors.

Just because it's public doesn't make it bad.

Must have been the moon or something!

I have run into some of the rudest most obnoxious morons that you will ever lay eyes on!!!!

Makes you wonder how these people have even lived as long as they have without being set straight by the business end of a two by four.

Glad you had a good time.

Let me add that not everyone I run into are rude! I don't want to appear to be the one with the attitude. I have met some really cool dudes! I have even had a boat load of guys come up to me and my hunting partner and comment on how nice it was to hunt in the same vicinity. He didn't try to call birds off me, sky bust at the birds working my spread, or make any attempt to ruin my hunt or opportunity to kill birds and vice versa. Can't remeber the guys names but they were a credit to the "Duck Hunter" name. Not many people will go out of their way to compliment another hunter.

Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. I'm glad you had a good experience. Chances are: you may have another good one seeing as how you didn't disclose the location. Happy Hunting.
