I need some help... How do you hunt ducks on the sand bars of the river?...... The water is down and there is no cover or structure anywhere close ... the water is about 1 - 2 foot deep...lots of ducks ...but just no where to get.... tried to build a blind out of willows and dead grass...but didn't work.... all that tried to work would flare when they got close....had about 36 dekes out....don't know what to do...never hunted them like this....any suggestions would be appreciated.

RB you need about a 10ft rise on the river to get you in some cover. Had the same problem for the last 2 years. Drifted up on a rock dike and pulled up the blind and that seemed to work.

Know what you mean torch..... got plenty of ducks...and when they won't come in and go land 300 yards away....everything else comes in and goes to the live ones...hard to compete with live decoys...thanks for the suggestion.

by chance
Find your birds and then dig a small pit in the sand near the area you jumped them in. You can use a small piece of burlap to cover up with. Come back the next morning and hunt that pit. Usually won't need many decoys. Be sure you have the required license for the state you are hunting in. This method has worked for me when the river is low and not in the trees.
