High numbers of mallards

Postby duckdr1970 » Fri Nov 16, 2007 9:11 am

I spoke to friend of mine who runs lines at Arkabutla Lake. He said that they we're dodging large flocks of mallards on Tueday while trying to put out lines. They are looking for any and all water available right now. Just spoke to my hunting partner and he rode by the lake this morning and saw many flocks working the shallow end. Bad news is you can't get to where the birds are due to low water.

Go-devil or hyperdrive, unless you want to wade and drag chit. It is about 2000 yds to get to the birds.

I can only imagine how many Shelby County tagged vehicles will be lined up on Hwy51.

We have a kind of rule around here where posting up chit like that is kind of frowned upon. Just b/c you may not hunt there doesn't mean you should blab about it on the internet.

You sum benches crack me up... I don't have a dog in this race, but ya'll are just furking silly about this public land chit. Keyword being PUBLIC PUBLIC PUBLIC flashing in neon green light! It's PUBLIC land and if you don't want to share it then take your cheap arses on or do like most respectable people on here who you don't see benching and lease a dam place!

I gots a lease. Public or not, some folks go out and SCOUT with their own eyes just to have some yahoo post how good a place is and then 100 "INTERNET" scouts show up and hunt 100' from each other and ruin it for all!

Three years ago I showed up at the Drop Zone to hunt opening morning. I got there ar 2:00am and there were 17 trucks in the lot and nothing but Q-Beams shinning every where.

Every one in this neck of the woods knows better than showing at either of those places on opening morning.

And for the record, there are about 6 big ducks on the mud hole. I was just poking fun.

Plus you have to have a permit to hunt those bottoms any more.

I understand the thought process of these guys I really do, and I should not fly off the handle like I did, it's just this site has turned into nothing, but benching and moaning about who said what, whos a top water, and God forbid anybody mention anything about public land! I guess it's just different when you don't hunt public land and you are in a forum with about 1 thousand guys who do.
