its been a long time since ive started the season off like i have this year. Have any of yall been in one of those slumps where murph's law seems to be tattooed on your forehead? Ive lost 3 deer already this year from bad shot placement and two out of the three should have been dead deer. I forgot to mention that 2 out of 3 were also on video which makes it even better

. First shot was a cull 7 pt that me and dustin walked up on coming out of the woods on a morning hunt. Hit a limb, deflected, no penetration, deer has now relocated to memphis. Second one was a 40 yd shot, dont know what happened, just shot low (brisket) for some reason. Third one, decided before i even left the camp that i was going to be more patient and focused during the period between the draw and the shot. 20 min after being in the stand had 4 does start to feed toward us. Within the next 35 min i had broadside or quartering away shots at 30 to 35 yards but just felt like they were going to eventually browse towards us and give a higher percentage shot at like 20 or 25yds. Finally they started easing our way so i take one last range and right as im drawing a small 8 pt comes trottin in from my left and ends up spookin the doe a few yards off and now (of course) shes on pins and needles. Long story short....i took the shot, she drops 4-5 inches (i was a little high anyway), hit her in the no zone, it gets better.......bitch runs off with $15 of broadhead and arrow. I came really close to tryin a bo jackson with a mathews sat afternoon

Anyway just needed to vent

brad,
like i just told you, at least you're seeing deer/getting to go..... the times i've been i've pretty much been snakebit, and i've been going in good places, tons of sign...... saw a nanny and two yearlings sunday morning, they come in over my left shoulder and bed down 30 yards from me but it's too thick to get a shot... i start to make the stalk and about a billion wood ducks get up off the water and spook the hell out of them and they take off...

Chopper, 4 for 4??? *!@#&$*!&#$*!(@#*$*@&$*)!@&$)!@&$
I hope you can translate that
I lost a deer as well Brad. rage broadhead and brand new gold tip gone. I believe I hit the "no zone" as you called it, as well. I should have been able to kill the deer with a large rock it was so close. I just can't explain it. First deer I have lost in 15 yrs. Only the second one ever.
The next weekend I shot a coyote between the shoulder blades with another new arrow and a g5 stryker. The arrow stuck him to the ground, and then he dislodged it and ran off with that one. I could not find him anywhere. Now I am a basket case because I have no confidence in my ability to put my hands on the dead animal. I just gotta hurry up and regroup.

Thanks for rubbing in it.
I feel like a field goal kicker that has the shanks, and I am not getting enough time in the stand to get rid of them. I am gonna take off Friday and hope I can put some time in to change things.

as soon as i can figure out how to upload videos from my new cam to youtube, i will post the shot from Sat. afternoon. If you put in slow motion, that doe lays down right as the arrow comes into the frame. Brad's reaction is pretty funny though, and he handled alot better than I would have...
