Well boys this mornin i was scared chittless.

Got off my stand around 8:15 and decieded to take a stroll and scout out another place. During my journey i stubbled on two young bobcats takeing up the morning sun and cool air. Well since you don't see too many cat's that close, 30 yds, i just had to admire them. Well it turned serious quick. They decieded i looked tasty and decieded to have a little fun with "me". One played "decoy" while the other tried to sneek around behind me. When the other split i thought to myself, hey it would be cool shooting a bobcat with my bow. When i finally got my arrow nocked and my release set up it was "ON". I had just gotten to full draw when the other cat decided to do the ole ambush trick. You may think your the baddest MF in the world until that moment happens. I tuned and let the arrow go and got my fat little booty braced for the worst. It scared the cat just about as bad as it scared me. Instead of hightailing it like i predicted they regrouped and setup another plan. One slid across the wheat lane and the other slid down the tree line. Needless to say i walked backwards for 200 yards with one cat on my left and one on my right. every three steps back they moved up. Never in my wildest dreams did i ever think a bobcat would stalk a human, but it does happen. I'm thinking it was more of a curious thing to be honest b/c they did look to be young cats. they weren't too scared of me either and didn't try to "hide" so to speak. they just kept trying to figure out what i was on the hole trip back to my "running" spot.

That's why Mr. S&W is always in my backpack!! Don't care if illegal or not, it's always with me. Never know what you may run across while bow hunting.

Had one try to stalk me out of the woods a couple years ago during gun season. He's no longer with us!

I shot one yesterday that crossed the trail I had taken to get to the stand, smelled my footsteps, then followed them to the stand.

I think you should send that story to Field and Stream or Outdoor Life for the "true adventure" type stories they run sometimes.

Speakin of being a little freaked out in the woods reminds me of a time I was going to my stand before daylight. I was making my way down a ridge and heard what sounded like a MAN-SIZED bat flying out of the tree that I had just walked under. I almost had a story for the "I crapped my pants while hunting" thread. I got to my tree and it took me 2 hours to figure out that it was probably a turkey flyin out of the roost. We'd never seen or heard any turkeys on that place, thats why that sound was so odd to me.

Bobcats, coyotes, and black panthers will always get arrows flung at em.

i had something crazy happen to me last week bowhunting. I was in a lock on in the middle of some ridges that have been cut-over. Well as soon as i get settled in my stand, a coyote comes right underneath my stand and poses for me about 15 yards out. Well, unfortunately, I was shooting around the tree behind me and out to the side of my arrows on the tree, and missed the coyote when i shot at him. He ran off and i didn't see any more deer that night. Well about 6:30pm he came back and stood in that same spot i shot at him last time and was trying to figure out what happened, he was sniffing the air, searching all around. Well i drew back to sling another arrow at him, and he saw my movement and high tailed it out of there. About 15 minutes later, it was getting too dark to see through my sights, and i decided i would let my bow to the ground and get down out of the stand. As soon as my bow touched the ground, i heard what was like a mad dash of small creatures all around me. I could barely see the coyotes, but they were surrounding me. I got out my flashlight, and there were about 5 or 6 all sounding my stand at about 30 yards or so!!! So that was a little scary. Went hunting and got hunted!!!

Same thing happened to my pardner. He was in a tree stand and two cats tried to get up close with him. He shot a couple of times, not trying to kill them just run them off. Finally, when he was down to one arrow he realized he would be up a tree without a paddle and started yelling and throwing clothes, etc., at them and they bugged out.

I killed the tom a few weeks later with my bow, it was a biggun. Taxidermist lost it when his power went out $#*&$%.
