HRC Club

Postby pntailhntr » Sun Sep 02, 2007 8:25 pm

Is there anyone on here from the Central Delta area?? Greenville, Greenwood, Leland, Cleveland. I Live in Leland and am thinking about starting an HRC club. There is an AKC club around here but all they are into are Dog Shows, no hunting trials. If we want to go to meetings or training days we have to travel to far. Anybody interested???? I'll need a few people interested in being officers and helping out. Also, any officers from other clubs that would be willing to be around for some help for us to get things started would be nice too, travis, uhhum, sorry got something in my throat, that sounded like I said, Travis!!!!

Boy, don't everyone speak at once!!! I'm not just looking for helpers, I'm looking for people interested in being involved in the club. Training sessions, fund raising, etc.

SPEAK UP PEOPLE!!!

901-412-2392... call me anytime you got some questions. I can't offer the time to be involved with anything more than answering questions, and maybe trying to help you get past the typical growing pains, but feel free to call me. travis

There are some great spots to hold training/test days between Leland and Rosedale... you'd have some good grounds if you had access to them.

grounds

I'm saying you'd have some good grounds potentially.

I would be in the same boat that you are... I'm 2 hours from Leland (Oxford), so it would be a good bit of travel for me. I'm a member of two clubs now, Southern Flight (1 hr from home) and Old Hatchie (2 1/2 hr from home). I do not attend every club meeting (honestly do not think I have been to one since spring); however, the internet keeps me informed on what the other members feel I should know.

I would be all for a club being in the Leland/Greenville area, just wouldn't be able to be an active player in the club.... but I would attend the tests.

Yoy can contact me also for any advise i can share with ya to help. One of the problems will always be memebers that will be with ya thru the WORK.You get a good core group that does not mine the work you got a good start. I can tell ya one problem you gona have and thats finding a test date. You will be within 200 mile sof alot of clubs that pretty much have the dates spoken for every year at least the spring. That and a few other reasons is why West MS HRC. Only does the Feb Mahanna test. Have you contacted Claudine at HRC for any advise if not that would be a great start. There is alot more to it than just wanting to start a club. Let me know if i can help. Good luck.

An HRC club is great. But you also have many around you. Personally speaking from starting a NAHRA club in 2001 around here, you may be better off forming a training group until you get consistency in people. Many folks are around at first then interest wains and you are left doing most of the work.

Sure there are great benefits to a club, but also headaches! Walk with a training group then run with a club. Just my 2 cents.

The only problem I'm seeing in BOTH is that there is nobody from the Detla even on here, and I don't know much other way to get it out to other people around the Delta. I could put a note on here, but that would do nothing but get people from other areas to come. I need locals and nobody is responding :( . I guess I'll post a note on the waterfowl page too.

Bayou Beagle is speaking good wisdom. Like i said its alot more thanjust starting a HRC club. You will have a hard time getting a date for a test which is a requirement to be an active HRC club. Starting a training group would be the bets thing. Thats what we did in the beginning and realized it was aot more to it to start a new club. Thats when i found out West MS was still there just had not been very active for 3 years. So i just cranked the old club back up WITH GREAT HELP FROM THIS SITE!!!!! Granted we don't do as much as we should as a club but we put on a good test.
