 Not to wish bad luck on any of you boys and girls, but I hope that each of you get a big band of mallards working your hole and that there is a big bull sprig in there with them. On second thought make it two, that should really do you in. I do not want to be alone. Jack

Especially since you can't shoot them sprigs until the 3rd week in December.(I'm not sure the exact date now, but I will know before I pull on the waders.)

What is that all about? I would rather them not open a Pintail season as to have a couple of weeks. That seems strange to me.

I would rather have the entire season closed for sprigs. I don't think compliance will be very good with a split. Which means the objective will not be met.

I disagree, I think duck hunters are better people and not as dumb as most people think. I think the pins will do fine. You could close the season and there would still be "OOPS" ducks from some hunters and you would still have some people that would shoot them anyway. I know coming from SE LA if they closed pintail season I would be crushed that's our #1 bird down here, it would be like them closing Mallard season for you all.

Jeff, I see your point on not being able to shoot the most common bird you bag. That would be torture to sit in the blind and watch group after group decoy right in. And I guarantee that if the season was completely closed on them they would break their necks to get in your spread. Maybe there won't be to many "oops" birds taken.

you ever heard the old saying about how to cook a shoveler. Take the shoveler place him on a board and stick him on the grill. Once the shoveler is done throw the bird away and eat the board.

so in other words, if I see a bull sprig opening weekend, I can't bust him???
