3 1/2'' BB's

Postby chattahoochee » Fri Jul 20, 2007 2:04 pm

Who here shoots 3 1/2'' BB's on ducks only. Thinking about buying 2 cases of this and was wondering who shoots this for ducks. Heading to Kansas for 2 weeks to goose/duck hunt and my friend up there said buy these for ducks too. Wouldn't this be overkill for flooded fields and timber for ducks.

I had some 3.5 Kent BBB's left over from my Canada trip. I shot them at ducks when season started last year. I made some shots that I ordinarily wouldn't make with 1's or 2's. If you are shooting ducks at 20-30 yards, it's definately overkill, but they work almost as well as Hevi Shot as far as field hunting. The only problem is there is just less shot per shell.

I shoot them 3-1/2 BB's exclusively on ducks but I hunt rice fields. The nice thing is you either kill them dead or miss clean. But if you plan on using some aftermarket constricted chokes be careful. I have has a wad get caught which is not too good if you have a follow up shot

that's all i've been shooting for the past 8 years, mostly spent hunting rice/bean fields.... they pattern well in my guns with light modified chokes.... probably more than you need in the woods, but i haven't ever seen a duck too dead....

I have shot them for the past two years.. I want shoot anything else unless cant find anymore.. But to exspensive to be shooting cripples.. But also good if you have a cripple good ways off and cant get to it quick.. they will reach out there.. I don't see why you would go wrong with buying them.. I shoot Kent 3.5bb

I wouldn't buy 2 cases without trying them first. I like 3 and 1/2 inch 2's. I had to buy more shells mid season and 2's were sold out so I went with BB's.

Evidently my gun/choke combo doesn't like them as much as it likes the 2's. I just never felt like I was connecting with the BB's.

No, I don't think it'll be overkill for the trees. You may have less cripples.
