I'm trying to breed my female lab for the first time. She just turned seven, which I know is a little old, but since she's such a good dog, I wanted to have a litter before she got too old. She's been in heat about a week I believe. I have put her with the male twice, once when she'd been in only two or three days and once again last night. She snaps his head off and chases him away before he can even get "in position." I'm putting them together in my backyard which is large and fenced. Should I put them in a smaller kennel area? Other than soft music and a bottle of wine, any other suggestions on getting them "hooked up" would be appreciated.

She will stand for him when the time is right and not before, nothing you can do.

Dawg, here's the scoop on your dawg-- When you first see spots of blood on her tail etc, wait 10 days then she will stand for the young man to get his groove on. The ability to spot the blood is easiest on a yellow lab, so don't get any other color dog!!!
