Do you pick up your hulls? I try to make it standard practice for myself and my hunters(paying or not) to pick up hulls after the hunt. I sometimes sink them, but had rather pick them up and throw them away. Dove hunting: we go around every Friday picking up hulls left by hunters. Almost filled up a garbage sack with hulls, shell boxes, cans, bottles...after the Labor Day hunt.
And what amazes me is, people INVITED to hunt, when asked to please pick up after themselves when they leave....walk out of the field and leave a trash heap in their spot. Not all...but some. I think it is a direct view of someone's character...as to the mess they leave in the outdoors.

I always try to pick the hulls up atleast every other day.

And as for guides, DD, if I were paying to hunt, and walked into a blind full of hulls, hulls on the ground, hulls floating in the hole...
1. I might wonder if the hole had been hunted too much recently
2. I might think it was an excellent spot due to all of the spent hulls
3. I (personally) would think how nasty to see all of that plastic in such a beautiful place.

I do on dove hunts because I like to count my shells when I'm finished. I'm not too particular on duck hunts, other than to sink them so I don't leave my calling cards lying around for all to see.

On govt land I will either sink em or pick em up especially if I have had a good hunt. I don't like leaving remnants of where I have spanked em. I don't hunt on private land so I can't say what I would do...the only time I did hunt on a private place they did NOT pick up their hulls and as they say "when in rome....." so we didn't pick any up that day. I do not "litter" though....things like honey bun wrappers, drink bottles etc come back to the truck with us.

Once a week we shovel them out of the pit. Then take the buckets full and throw them away properly. If the wind blows for 2 or 3 days out of the north, we rake the wads outta one end of the field.

Goose hunting I normally pick up my hulls too. They make a lot of noise rattling around in my defroster vents. travis

I hate litter. I hate seeing it when driving after a flood but realize some things can not be avoided. I personally feel it is my obligation to remove my trash and dispose of it properly. Especially, when invited to another persons place. I felt bad the weekend at GH22's place. My son and I picked up his hulls but I left others. I left feeling I didn't do enough. My apolgies GH I should have done more...

Wingman, I have to answer those questions also. 75% of my guest have been hunting with me for years. They reguest certain blinds, ect: They have all been on those 20 min hunts and all have gone and not gotten a limit.
We do keep the hulls from each pit or blind close to that pit or blind til the end of the season.

You folks who pick up your hulls......save them for me!!!! I want any Remington, Estate, Kent or Federal hulls that you will collect/pick up. I need 2.75", 3" and 3.5" hulls. I know Delta Duck shoots Drylocks so he's a waste of time to me as far as collecting his hulls.

Heck, I'll pay the shipping if you'll grab your, and your partners, hulls up for me!!

I always pick them up after a dove hunt. As for duck hunting, if I'm standing in green timber in water mid-thigh-high, I usually just sink them. If I'm sitting on dry ground on the edge of a slough or something, I will pick them up as well. I guess if I'm somewhere that someone will see where I've been, I pick them up, but when the river's out and I'm in the bottom, I just sink them. I need to start picking them up.

I pick mine up. I hate to see a big slob pile of hulls in a field or around a blind. If I see them, I think the place has been over shot, even if it has not.

We don't bother with shot shells or boxes they dissapear into nothing or they dont, we dont really care.
We do however pick up most of our beer cans as they flare ducks after 50 or 60 of them are laying around.
We also pick up our decoys since that helps a lot too.
