Where not to take your 4 wheeler for repair

Postby lmcmillan » Thu May 03, 2007 1:07 pm

I want to share a recent experience I had with one of our Suzuki dealers in Jackson/Pearl. I took my 4-wheeler in for repair and was taken for a ride i did not expect. Freddy Monsour and Jackson Motor Sports do not take care of the customer or their needs. My bike was there over six weeks. They never called to tell me what was wrong or how much it was going to cost. When I called after two weeks they could only tell me parts were ordered but could not tell me how long it would take and still could not tell me how much it would cost. I finally drove up there after it was there for 4 weeks. I was told the reason I could not get any help over the phone is because they do not have a service manager. When I asked why no one quoted me the job before they started it was the same reason, No service manager and it would take too long to quote the job. The worst part of it is, after paying $700 for the repairs the bike still was not fixed and it broke down again after only 10 hrs of ride time. I finally found a great repair shop called Flynts ATV and Cycle and for another $700 he got me fixed and running in no time and now the bike runs better than ever. I hope no one has to experience what I did at Jackson Motor Sports. When I went back to Jackson Motor Sports to tell Freddy about my problem he just called me a liar and would not talk to me.

Took my boat to BLUEWATER MARINE and they said they would go from front to back and "get it ready for the summer". I told them "if its going to be something major or expensive,,,,call me first to confirm". I never got a call until the boat was ready. $850 and they didn't even fix it. Had to bring it back b/c they overlooked 2 very important things...the motor would not run over 2000rpm and the trolling motor would not work. Oh but since they didn't fix it the first time...they didn't charge me for the labor 2nd go around, just the parts.

I would not mind paying the $850, but do not surprise me with that when the original arrangement was the "$79 summer special" they mailed out.

I have dealt with Freddie Monsour on 3 seperate occasions.....
every experience, in general, was fine. They did, however, quote me up front in the form of a ballpark estimate; and they did a good job fixing what i had brought in. Sounds like you just got the shaft!! :P :P

Sounds like a business opportunity to me if everyone's service down there is that horrific...

My brother in law opened a shop on the labor day weekend before Sept.11th. happened. He did good work but folks were not spending money after 9/11 and he wound up having to close within a year! He worked other places in town before his shop and saw how the customers were treated and knew there was a better way!

I live in the Jackson area but I use the Motor Sports in Brookhaven. They have always had me back on the road in less than 10 days. Even during hunting season. Labor rate is $55 hour.

Steve Woodward in Clinton is the best I have ever seen. He works on Honda and Yamaha. I was really disappointed when he said he did not service Polaris when I bought my Ranger.

NorthJackson Honda has done pretty good by me. Speed was real friendly and the work was top notch. But that wont help a Suzaki man.

atv repair

Postby q.back4 » Fri May 04, 2007 3:55 am

took mine to the dealer I bought it from 3 years ago......gear is stuck in low......he had it for 6 weeks so I called to check on it......I was told they were hoping it was going to be a simple pin that needed to be replaced but when they got inside the unit there was major problems & it was going to cost around $2,000.......went on to explain that he did not recommend me spending that kind of money on it because that was the value of atv was only about $2,000......he forgot when I took it in 6 weeks ago he told me the value was around $3500 and it was just getting broke in because I only have 100 hours on it.....obviously I am not a mechanic or I would fix it myself.....but I think I am smart enough to know there is no way in he$$ a new transmission would cost that much.... so I am looking for someone who can work on a Bombardier......I just refuse to be (in my opinion) scammed on this one.
