i thought i had a dozen or so until my daughter pulled out her stash of calls that she borrowed from me....haha....... every year calls for a new duck call.... i got a hand-made from the Obion River area in Tn. that sits on my desk, the rest are low priced everyday calls... my favorite, a Primos Wench...{at least the last two years} gotta get a new one this year ???

well laduck, i hear ya talkin. i went out and bought me a Vortex also. had to check it out. i like it. just like the posts said, sounds good and easy to blow. i have about a dozen calls now,but only carry three. a haydel and two old shurshots. i like them old shurshots for close work. i gotta stick with the lower priced calls and hope to get them to work!
now,how did i miss that one?

well, have you ever heard the term over bagged. In golf that means your clubs are about 3X better than your game could ever justify. Same is true for my approach to calls. I'm good enough to make racket similar to a duck, but that is about it. So, I stick to the cheaper calls....else I would be way over bagged.
I would like to have a couple more since my Haydel got a rattle over the summer. I'm thinking about picking up a Timber Wench for this year. I also take an old shure shot too because it's easiest to do a feed call.

I have
about 25 at the moment, but I'll be making a few more this weekend
I blew Duckmen's vortex the other day. and it sounded like a duck, but it was so dang small, I'd be afraid I'd swallow it.
That sentence didn't exactly come out like I intended...oh well, no homosexual puns intended.

More than I want to admit! I buy 'em and trade 'em all the time. I also have a half full grocery bag full of inexpensive calls like old olts, faulks and haydels, old DU freebie calls, etc. that I pick up at garage sales, off e-bay, or badger people out of thier non-used calls to have a stash to give away at greenwing events. You should see the look you get from a parent when their kid gets in the truck to go home with their cheeks bulging out and squalling on a plastic duck call. Priceless

So many ducks, so little time....
