Hail Call to Don Miller Hole

Postby SoftCall » Fri Sep 06, 2002 10:07 pm

DMH - Mallardchaser told me who you were and where you grew up hunting. You and I need to hook up over a steak at the Crystal club one nite. Do you remember folks by the name of Bob Gilbert, Ernie Knight, Milton Holcomb and Hutch? I have some stories from them about the good ole days on the Quiver River & Fighting Bayou with the likes of Avery Wood that will make you pass out laughing.

Yep, I Know those guys well. They use to hunt with us back in the 80's when we owned what is now Fighting Bayou. As a kid I have some fond memories of that place and those guys. Hutch used to be able to do voice impersonations of anyone. One instance, he called John Stennis' secretary asking her to speak to himself. Milton hunts some with Buck Gardner whose Arkansas camp is a mile down the road from mine. What are the rest of those guys up to? I haven't seen or heard from Hutch or Mr. Knight in years.

Bob is my father in law. I hunt with him and Ernie on a place near Morgan City. We get our annual dose of Hutch one weekend a year. He is still the funniest human being on the planet! I'll tell Ernie and Bob hello next weekend. They have several old photos from the Big Mallard days on the wall and that old blind with the flushing toilet grows about 100 square feet each time those stories are told.
