Imagine

Postby peewee » Thu Sep 05, 2002 10:29 am

Imagine what all hunters would have if we put all the money we spend on gadgets into conservation, whether if its with an organization like DU or DW or just spending the money locally to improve habitat conditions.

Imagine if all of us gave all the money we made to conservation organizations!!!!!

Be realistic....

I love duck hunting!!! I love my gun, my waders, my decoys, my calls, my GPS unit, my Columbia coat, my Avery shell bag, my mag light, etc.

Go ahead and give your money away, I need a new pair of waders!!!

CCD, I didn't say I did it, but think of the wetlands you could save if it was done.

I have most of that also, w/o the GPS. I'm just saying look at what would be saved without the BS.

I know peewee....

I just get so tired of hearing conservation sometimes. I am a hunter 1st and a conservationist 2nd.

Is this wrong??? Maybe, but if I did not hunt, chances are I would not care about conservation at all.

Do I do enough? In the eyes of some, probally not. But I do make a monitary donation to DU every year....and for me that is a whole lot.

Sorry to bast your post. You are right in concept, but we got to save some enjoyment for the sport. I want to be a duck hunter not a bird watcher.

Well let me start by saying tha stuff is fun and good, and a part of all your spending on "stuff" goes to habitat through the Pittmen Rboertson act. But, we as sportsmen should be thinking further ahead than the neat suff we get to use.
If we are to preserve the tradition we so love we MUST give our support to conservation, through whichever group you choose. Sure a membership is great but I have a bit of a burr under my saddle when I hear folks claim that thier membership is all the more they need to contribute.
Now I am not saying that anyone should break their bank, but I will say this. We as hunters may WANT the gear and gadgets and the latest in hunting paraphinalia but what we NEED is sound conservation and habitat preservation.
For the cost of a new "toy" I can provide nesting structures and conservation easments that will pay back for years to come. Its about more than ME and NOW.

M.B.

Caney, I guess i come at it opposite from you. I consider conservation #1 otherwise there won;tbe any hunting at all.

Exactly, if you did not hunt, you might not be conserned about conservation. I think that's a sentiment shared by most.
