Roll Call for Greenwood Outdoors Show, Sept 13, 14, 15......

I was given permission by Gulfcoast to post this.

I am wanting to get an approximate number of msducks members that are coming to Greenwood for the outdoor show. Our hunting club has a couple of dove fields and would probably be able to give you all the opportunity to shoot some birds that weekend if you are interested in doing so. Both fields are like 10 acres. Ditches surround the field and I'm trying to get my buddy to put some water in the ditches to get some more birds to work the field. I can probably put 10 people on each field. I've got a lot of birds on the main field as of last weekend, but I haven't gotten around to checking the backup field. Basic rate guest fee of $25/day. The main field will be shot Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, and will not be shot again until that next weekend. The only other people hunting would be myself, dad, and possibly my brother when you come for the show. If anyone is interested in getting together and doing this just reply to this post or PM me.

Guys, I limited out friday afternoon in the wheat field and got 12 yesterday afternoon in the corn field. I rode by the wheat field around 7 this morning, doves everywhere. So it looks like we'll have a pretty good shoot this weekend. The morning hunts will be good to around 7:30, evening hunts pick up around 4, have 30 min intervals between birds coming into the field. Just get in touch with me and decide when to hunt.

I may want to come up Saturday. Will you be able to look around on Thursday or Friday to see if the birds are still using the fields?

Thanks.

I should be able to check both fields by 5pm thursday to see what the birds are doing. By the way the birds are acting, hunt the fields every other day.

Keith,

A saturday morning hunt would be good, since there will be some other people shooting fields in our area. There were alot more doves in the field this morning than I've been seeing, but then again I've been too lazy to get up and hunt in the morning. A friday morning hunt would also be ok.

my bad....I meant to say Greenwood.

How did you like that Roten's Vortex call? I remember you saying you had a RNT short barrel. How does it compare???

DD,

I can go up and down the range with the vortex, but cannot with the short barrel. I do like the short barrel better because it is a pure bottom end duck call. I can get the sb to do whatever I want it to do. If you've never tried one before, i would strongly suggest doing so.

Saturday AM

I am interested if you put the Saturday shoot on. I would really like to just have my 11 year old son shoot and I work with him. He has been through hunter safety and just got a new pump he is itchin' to shoot. I wouldn't carry (unlike Judge's incident) I would be by his side the whole time. What would it cost to have him as a hunter and me retrieving?
If you need deposits in advance let me know.

msdukdog,

Sounds like a plan to me. If it was up to me, anyone under 12 would hunt free, but I've gotta stick with the $25/gun rule. I'm glad to see some more people interested in doing this. I knew it would be some more interested than just Don, MC, and WF. I'm just trying to get an approx. # interested in doing this. The way I've got it figured, 8-10 on the wheat field, 5 on the corn field. The key to hunting the corn field is the position of the irrigation pivot. If Nick doesn't irrigate his soybeans this week, we should be able to get some doves into range, otherwise they'll fly right down the middle of the field without being shot at. Deposits are not necessary.
