Hey guys maybe yall can help me. We were in a lease last year for ducks. The land is ,well just say its north of madison, its 16-section land and it comes up for bid this year. I was wondering how does it work? and who do we need to get intouch with so we can put our bid in before it's too late. If we bid higher than the guy who had it last year does he get the chance to match it or does the lease go to us? and do we get to counter-offer again? Do we need to get intouch with someone with the county to see about biding or is it someone with the state. Just wondering.

Question about putting a bid in on some land?
Duck Boat, Just kidding, about your question at the bottom I'll try to put a link to a web site. I got in there last year and sent an email to the head guy(cant remember his name) and he sent a reply rather quickly. You basically have to get in touch with the school district that has the land and ask them about the bidding process. He told me that they generally go from around $9.00 an acre. Just hope you didn't share the info with anyone. For some reason when it comes to buying or leasing land you really ain't got no friends. Good luck, let us know how it works out. Maybe we can score one for the good guys.

Baldduck is right the county school district has one person who is over just 16 sec leases.Call them tell them which section you want and they will send you a packet on it including the min bid. I know all of it in Rankin County is 12.00 min

Question about putting a bid in on some land?
The guy who has it now has the option to match the highest bid. Call the school district and speak w/ the guy in charge. I have talked w/ some of the guy's and after you get to know them they will "help" you out with info on the leases.

So far as I know, everything is on gile at the courthouse as well. You can geta copy of the lease and it has the price that the property is going for. Pretty good information to have if you're going to get into a bidding war.
