I am starting to see them in hunt test, alot of folks are leaning towards them for boat dogs.

my family had em the whole time I was growin up. Cool lil dogs.....just different. I have 2 labs now  j/k they are just different to train, much softer than a lab with the attitude of a 100lb Chessie. Make sense?

If you like the Boykin, also chk out the American Water spaniel. Similar size and color, great disposition. Terrific animal.

If you decide on a Boykin, pm me here. I can hook you up with an excellent pro/breeder here in SC.

I duck hunt with my Boykin and he does just fine. He is forty pounds and retrieves big ducks with no problem. They are awesome little dogs with a lot of talent and heart, and very easy to train.

TRUST ME if this sad guy says they are easy, then they must be!!!

my boykin will not get to see ducks, unless my lab brings em to her :D

(thats because my wife spoiled her and wont let me take them both hunting; second thought I dont even get to hunt anymore)

I like mine.

they are different to train. you cannot FORCE them to do anything; you can only ask. I have found that once they understand what you are asking, they will do anything for you.

I grew up hunting boykins and loved them. they did great but do not handle the cold as well and my boykin could not handle some of the tuff conditions a lab can. I would recommend a boykin to anyone but you can also get small labs. I have all three, boykin, 45 pound lab, 90 pound lab. The labs hunt better.
