Duck Load

Hey guys, I was told by a guide today when we were discussing duck loads that he believes that the best duck hunting load is Winchester Dryloc 2.75 BB. This guy kills some ducks!!!!!! He said that he started to us these loads after years of shooting the 3 and 3.5 #2's like most of the people I hunt with. Even uses this with teal. His point to it was, that if you hit it, it dies. You get the speed, less recoil, and better pattern with this load. He has turned many people onto this idea and they say that you will definately kill more ducks, I am going to pattern my gun and see how they shoot and give it a try. If it works, I hate I still have 2 case of Kent 3" #2's. Do any of you share his idea of shooting these loads? Just curious.

Interesting. I haven't heard of anyone doing that. If you decide to switch over I'd be interested in a case of those kents tho!

i definitely like the BB's...won't be too many of 'em in a 2 3/4" load....but I think the big pellets work better....

My favorite steel loads are 3" 1-3/8 oz BBs for ducks and geese.

I definately agree, I have had the best luck with these shells.

What choke constricitions are you BB shooters using? I patterned my 3" BPS with 3" #3 and #4 Win Xpert at 20 yds with the Inv Plus Modified (Full Steel) and I was hugely disappointed. I had 75 hits inside a 14 x 14 square with #3's and 95 hits with #4's. The pattern wasn't even and I was/am frustrated to say the least...
Any suggestions?

i prefer 3.5 turkey loads. They wont fly away.

I use a light modified....it works well on birds over decoys....

You may want to try an improved cylinder or light modified to improve steel patterns. My experience on the patterning board and in the blind has shown me that steel loads shot through a tighter constricted choke will have holes in the pattern. Other non-toxic loads that have characteristics similar to lead, seem to pattern more efficiently in tighter chokes than steel. Just my $.02 worth.

I can get a decent pattern out of #2 steel with the modified choke, but any bigger and I have to go to improved.

IUmproved cylinder or light modified. I pattern them on flying ducks, not paper.

well im a duck hunting noob. hunt everything but it and i was told to use a full choke, guess im gonna have to switch em out before i hunt again

You have less cripples with the bigger pellets. I started shooting #1's several years ago for that very reason. Seems that I have more dead ducks. Just remember, bigger shot means less pellets, better make em count!!!
