my driveway is on a pretty steep slope, everytime i put my truck into reverse it makes that loud sound like it is slamming into reverse. anybody know if this is hard on your transmission. i have started putting my e brake on before putting it in park, then when i leave i put it in reverse and release the e brake and it doesnt feel so rough. is this a smart thing to do? just curious.

Absolutely the best thing you can do is to apply the parking brake. Same problem here w/ the steep driveway. Don't know if it hurts your transmission but that much of a bind on any metal part can't be good.

You can try parking so the front end is pointing down hill or if that is to hard you can unhook your drive shaft. It sounds like you might want to go with unhooking your drive shaft.

all it is is your parking sprag releasing. its not good on it either. the best thing to do is set your parking brake before you put it in park. so then your vehicle dont roll back and get it in a bind.

yup, its the toqrue of the weight of the truck pushing against the parking pawl. Perfectly normal. Ive never seen it cause an issue.

Dont use your parking brake in subfreezing weather. Espeically if there is any moisture on the ground. Seen more than a few freeze. travis
