No need to worry about calling snows, it's usless. However if you feel inclinced a haydels is about the best. The only way to kill snows on a large level is with hunting the right spot and with a LOT of decoys, ie 500-3000.
Specks are a different story, get a chein caille from Mervis Saltzman in Gueydaun. They are very hard to call but once a skill is aquired they work a call better than a mallard.

Specks are one of God's mysterious creatures that are very vocal and will work a call with no decoys.
I blow the 2 and 3 note yodel and the "ground tweet". The best thing you can do is to get close to a group of specks and listen to them. They make an alarm call also and I found out quickly that you don't blow this and get them to come to you

IMO for calling specks learning to cluck to them is imperative, it is a call that kills. The two and three note calls work well also, however someimes I'll do 10 and 15 note calls to them when I am trying to turn them.

get the Primos Speck call, not sure of the exact name, but it's camo'd. It is the easiest speck call to blow. As for a snow call, the haydels is fine, just blow it!

Dont bother buying a spec call unless you are going to buy a chein caille. Jeff was right about it being a little harder to learn but they sound amazing. Where are you from. To call specs you are gonna need someone to sit down and work with you. its almost impossible to teach yourself. I am in oxford and would be more than willing to help if you wanted to. I just got back from a spec hunt in LA and we ended up killing about 35 specs in 5 days. let me know if you need help. and shoot me a pm and ill give you my phone number.

ohh and by the way champcaller had no clue what he is talking about. specs work great to a three note yodel.

Yes it is, but if you have a camcorder and a field full of specks, you don't need a human instructor.
Film them and then play it back all summer long while you practice on your call. That's how I learned.
I just blow into the call. The trick is holding your hand on the end of the call to create the necessary back pressure to make it break or yodel. Haydel has a "compensator" speck call that takes the work out of the hand placement. I do have a Chien Caille and the orange Haydel speck (WF-00 I think).
All of the speck calls I've blown take a lot of air. I am usually worn out at the end of the hunt from all of the calling. Maybe I learned incorrectly, I don't know, but I think they like what I'm saying most of the time.

I usually hunt 'em off some guy's wheat field up at Sledge
Tell me where your blind is, Smoker, and I'll stop by for a tutorial.
