Well after 3 good weekends of killing 15+ we now are struggling for one or two. We must have been shooting locals. North East Ms is empty at
least my holes are. Anyone else having trouble in NE MS

It's been hit/miss for me. I've had a few good days but some not that great either. Couple of my better days were in the past week. This is kinda changin the subject, but what kinda birds ya'll been seein/killin? I've been in a couple of areas that had a fairly decent number of mallards and some that had almost all gadwall (besides your friendly neighborhood woodies). I've even seen a few blacks and managed to bag a nice drake the other day. For the most part though, things have been kinda slow overall. Anybody hunt near or in the Tombigbee River bottom around Fulton?

Not bragging, but we have shoot 4 man limits every week since season started on the Tenn Tomm.

Weimhunter, you need to run a guide service if you are doing that. That isn't bragging that is awesome. We can't keep any ducks up here for the 5:00 pm boys shooting the heck out of them. They must be running them your way. Congrats on the good hunts.

Just a clarification about Weimhunter's success..........quote from another thread......

'Quite a difference in that and......

The latter suggests that he hunts ON the Tenn-Tom. (By the way.....that IS bragging.)

Yeah, we've noticed the merganzer numbers have dropped-off significantly, too.......AND is that your group that's been hunting the sanctuary?

I wouldn't go as far as saying we're having 'touble'......because we've come to accept the fact that hunting over here is less than desirable, MOST of the time. And it's been SORRY for the past 6 years.

It IS what it IS......and we're not seeing anything to get excited about, and aren't worried about it, cause that's just par for the course and we can't do anything about it.

With enough rain to fill the sloughs and ag fields in the area.....the only time you're likely to have ANY success on the river itself (until the mass migration drifts down).....is when everything else freezes SOLID.......for about a week straight. IT's just a fact.

The only positive reports I've heard, are from folks like 'Wiemhunter' that have natural private sloughs or private holes that are managed or planted for ducks. But what the heck do I know? I'm just a newbie.

If you've got ducks....enjoy it! There will come a time when you realize how little you thought you knew about duck hunting and nothing seems to work.

UNA area

I hunt the UNA area. We have been having great success at least until that last freeze. I think we lost alot of ducks that weekend. Still seeing mostly mallards where I hunt and its looking to be picking up a bit. ME and another guy are hunting in the morning I will post back and let you know what I see.

Hey, GREAT!! Thanks for the tip!.......we were wondering where to hunt in the morning, cause we're not seeing much where we are.......so we might run into you up there, tomorrow. What kind of boat do you have, so we can come over and introduce ourselves. 'Can't wait to get on some mallards, finally! We've got 3 different groups of guys that hunt with us, and they aren't seeing much, either. 'Think I'll give'em a call and make plans to head up to the UNA area, and do a little scouting.

Again.......we appreciate the 'tip'.......'was beginning to think there weren't any big ducks over here.

Oh yeah.......welcome to MSDucks! ('noticed that was your first post)
